SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, September 18, 2022.- The XXVINORCECA Congress 2022 was held virtually on September 16 and 17 with fruitful results which included welcoming words from FIVB President Dr. Ary S. Graça F°.
The Executive Committee and Board of Directors met on Friday September 16 and representatives from the 41 National Federations members of the NORCECA Volleyball Confederation met during two working sessions held on Saturday 17.
NORCECA President Cristóbal Marte Hoffiz, gave the opening words indicating “our Confederation is back to its regular competitions after the forced recess due to the global Pandemic Covid-19, achieving its financial independence thanks to the efforts of many; in addition to our open attitude to always listen and discuss each and every proposal presented by our NORCECA members”.
Dr. Ary Graça addressed the Congress explaining that the FIVB hasn’t stopped its efforts to support every National Federation during the inexorable forces of change that the world of volleyball has been challenged with “I invite you all to work with us together through the FIVB Empowerment program which has a financial support thanks to commercial opportunities from sponsors, promotors and TV and marketing rights”.
Also addressing the Congress was Centro Caribe Sports President Luis Mejía Oviedo, as well as FIVB General Manager Fabio Acevedo.
Marte Hoffizz highlighted that the working agenda, the 2020 & 2021 NORCECA Internal Financial Reports and External Audits by Ernst & Young, as the working NORCECA commissions reports, were available ahead on the Confederations’ website for its efficient discussion during the Congress.
It’s needed to say that they were all unanimously approved by the present Congress.
The NORCECA/FIVB Volleyball Regional Development Center in Dominican Republic also presented a full report, underlining that it is the only development center in the world authorized by the FIVB to carry out face to face the Level III Coaches Course that concluded a couple of days ago.
Prof. Nelson Ramírez, Director of the Center announced that a Data Volleyball and Opponent Analyzing Course will be held next November.
The Congress approved the proposal presented by Ariel Sainz, NORCECA First Executive Vice-President and supported by Félix Sabio, AFECAVOL President, of allowing Guatemala’s national volleyball and beach volleyball to compete under the NORCECA flag in al the events organized by NORCECA, due to the recent suspension of its Olympic National Committee by the International Olympic Committee.
Cristóbal Marte Hoffiz presented the report he will be addressing during the 38th FIVB World Congress to be held from September 22-24 at Arnhem, Netherlands during the first phase of the FIVB Women’s World Championship, which explains the future actions that the Confederation will be executing for the development of volleyball in the region.
In his closing words, President Marte Hoffiz said “on your behalf, as your representative at the FIVB I will support all those activities that guarantee the development and promotion of volleyball of our Confederation, ensuring the necessary conditions to carry them out; I will see you all in a couple of days for the 38th FIVB Congress”.
