YAUCO, Puerto Rico, December 14, 2025. – Sunday night action in the Liga de Voleibol Superior Masculina (LVSM) determined the six teams advancing to the postseason.
At the Raúl “Pipote” Oliveras Coliseum in Yauco, the Cafeteros defeated the Gigantes de Carolina in straight sets, 3-0 (25-16, 25-21, 25-23), earning the full three points and clinching second place, which grants them a direct berth to the semifinals.
In the third set, Carolina took a 21-16 lead following an offensive error by Juan Felipe Castañeda and a successful block by John Chamone, seemingly pushing the match into a fourth set. However, Yauco responded with a 5-0 run that included a spike by Brandon Rattray from zone two to level the score.
The closing moments were intense, but the Cafeteros prevailed with key contributions: Diego Negrón capitalized on an overpass, Rattray scored with a successful attack against the opposing block, and Negrón sealed the victory with a zone-two kill.
Yauco’s offense was led by Juan Felipe Castañeda with 15 points and Brandon Rattray with 13. For Carolina, Nomar Galarza totaled 12 points.
With the win, Yauco improves to a 16-4 record and 43 points, solidifying second place and securing the direct semifinal berth thanks to winning the head-to-head series 2-1 against Corozal. Carolina remains in fifth place at 7-13 with 23 points.
