SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, January 19, 2024. – With the participation of 18 Indoor Volleyball referees and 10 Beach Volleyball referees, the continental referee courses were inaugurated at the Olympic housing facilities in Puerto Rico and the Beach Volleyball courts in the city of Guayama.
These courses are sponsored by the NORCECA Confederation, led by Cristóbal Marte, and the Puerto Rican Volleyball Federation, presided by Dr. César Trabanco, under the coordination of the NORCECA/FIVB Regional Volleyball Development Center directed by Professor Nelson José Ramírez.
During his opening speech, Dr. Trabanco expressed, “I am pleased with the confidence that NORCECA has placed in the Puerto Rican Federation to host these important courses, with the participation of referees from 14 member countries of our Confederation and I am committed to always support the Development Center in organizing more training sessions like these”.
Professor Nelson Ramírez said, “knowledge is the key to development, and therefore, Cristóbal Marte is willing to provide NORCECA’s support. I appreciate the effort of the Puerto Rican Federation for hosting more training courses”.
In their opening remarks, instructors Guy Bradbury and Andre Trottier also stated that as soon as they were notified by Professor Ramírez about these courses, they accepted the invitation to come to Puerto Rico, a country with a great tradition in the world volleyball family, to share their knowledge and experiences in refereeing within NORCECA and the FIVB, expressing their desire for all participants to achieve their goals”.
The course will conclude on January 24 with the presentation of certificates to the participants.
