Argentina keeps winning streak at U23 Women’s Pan Am Cup

HERMOSILLO, Mexico, July 19, 2023.- Argentina defeated Honduras 3-0 (25-16, 25-13, 25-11) to keep their winning streak at the U23 Women’s Pan American Cup being held at the Sonora Arena in Hermosillo, Mexico.
 
Argentina has a 2-0 win-loss record in Pool B and will finish the preliminary round against the host Mexico on Thursday, while Honduras is 0-2 and will play their Central American rival Costa Rica.

Argentina held a huge advantage in kills (49-13) and serves (13-2), and a 5-3 margin in blocks. Honduras only committed 8 unforced errors and Argentina 22.

Three players scored double figures for Argentina, Nicole Perez (11), Magali Marquez (11) and Milena Margaria (10).  

Rocio Duron and Genesis Oyuela scored 4 points for Honduras.

Emilia Balague, setter of Argentina: “We are focused in our game, in executing what we’ve been training. This tournament is a preparation for the U21 World Championship. Tomorrow we close against the host and it will be exciting with the support of the crowd, we must play hard”.
