Beach Volleyball Referees Receive FIVB International Status

ROI ET, Thailand, November 16, 2023. – Three Beach Volleyball referees representing NORCECA have been certified as International Referees by the FIVB during the U21 Beach Volleyball World Championship, which concluded on November 12 in Roi Et, Thailand.

André Trottier, member of NORCECA Referee and Beach Volleyball Commissions and an FIVB Referee Instructor, made the announcement that Gilberto Magdalena Gleves from the United States, Alvaro Rivera from Mexico, and Simon Ouellet from Canada, representing the NORCECA Confederation,  successfully passed the FIVB Level C Referee Course during the U21 World Championship in Roi Et.

“This certification makes them eligible to officiate FIVB international competitions outside their countries,” said André Trottier. “All three had a successful involvement during the World Championship, and I am very proud of their performance”, he added.

Magdalena Gleves was designated as First Referee for the women’s gold medal match, and Simon Ouellet served as Second Referee in the men’s final.

The NORCECA Confederation congratulates all three for achieving their FIVB International Beach Volleyball Referee status, knowing that they will continue to represent our Confederation successfully in future appointments”.
