COLUMBUS, Ohio, July 12, 2026. – Belize closed its campaign at the NORCECA U21 Women’s Pan American Volleyball Cup with a convincing 3-0 (25-14, 25-16, 25-18) victory over the U.S. Virgin Islands to finish seventh at the Covelli Center in Columbus, Ohio.
Belize controlled the match from the opening whistle, taking command early in each set and never allowing the U.S. Virgin Islands to mount a serious comeback. The winners led in every statistical category, holding advantages in attacks (34-22), blocks (8-4), and service aces (6-4).
Nisaan Martínez paced Belize’s offense with 19 points, followed by Akili Jones with 9 and Amayah Lino with 6.
For the U.S. Virgin Islands, Avielle Lewis scored 9 points, while Kinsley Taylor added 5.
Belize head coach Nelissa Ramírez said: “The team improved as the tournament progressed. The girls gave their all in executing the fundamentals of the game. This tournament was very beneficial for us because of the experience we gained.”
U.S. Virgin Islands head coach Raphael Isaac commented: “For me, it was a good tournament because I saw progress in the girls, and that’s exactly what I was looking for. Throughout the event, I saw my team making adjustments day by day. We still have a lot of work to do, but the important thing is that we competed.”
