British Virgin Islands Claimed its first win at ECVA Senior Women’s Championship

TORTOLA, British Virgin Islands, August 14, 2026.- Day 3 of women’s competition at the 2026 Eastern Caribbean Senior Volleyball Championship delivered a milestone moment in Tortola, as host nation BVI claimed its first win of the tournament.

BVI’s women’s team defeated Grenada 3-1 (25-16, 17-25, 25-23, 25-14) to secure their first victory of the 2026 ECVA Volleyball Championship, sending the home crowd into celebration.

Bermuda swept Anguilla 3-0 (25-14, 25-14, 25-13), dominating in straight sets to remain unbeaten on the tournament.

Saint Lucia’s women’s team defeated Dominica 3-1 (25-21, 23-25, 25-12, 25-17) to round out the day’s results.

Speaking after the match, BVI head coach Shaquille Rose said the team tried some new rotations and credited the changes with helping the team secure the win.

BVI team captain Henrietta Alexander said the outcome came down to paying attention to what the team had done in previous matches and adjusting their approach, with the goal of achieving a different result.

The championship continues through August 16 at the Multipurpose Complex in Tortola, BVI, with more matches scheduled for Day 4.

Tomorrow’s games will be crucial, as the results will determine which teams advance to the semifinals and finals.
