Canada clinch Beach Volleyball double at Commonwealth Youth Games

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad and Tobago, August 10, 2023.- Canada won both Beach Volleyball gold medals on the final day of competition at the Trinbago 2023 Commonwealth Youth Games.

24 teams, 12 per gender took part of the Beach Volleyball tournament of the seventh edition Commonwealth Youth Games that ran from August 4-11.

NORCECA representatives were Canada and Trinidad & Tobago in both genders, Cayman Islands and Bermuda in the men’s field, and  St. Kitts & Nevis alongside St. Lucia in women.

Katarina Drozd and Calinda Kok triumphed in the women’s final and Oliver Toomes and Andon Kiriakou in the men’s gold medal match at the Black Rock Facility.

Drozd and Kok did not drop a set in route to their gold and won both 21-14 against Jasmine Rayner and Cameron Zajer of Australia in the final.

Toomes and Kiriakou took men’s gold with a 21-16, 21-14 victory against Peter Soczewka and Rob Morgan of England.

New Zealand won both the men’s and women’s bronze matches.
