WILLEMSTAD, Curaçao, July 19, 2025. – Curaçao recovered from a first-set loss to defeat Trinidad and Tobago 3-1 (16-25, 25-23, 25-20, 25-21) in an exciting CAZOVA Men’s Final Four match.
Trinidad and Tobago made a strong start, taking an early 6-2 lead. Curaçao head coach Henrich Daal called a strategic timeout, and the hosts responded with improved serving and attacking. After closing the gap to 10-11, Trinidad and Tobago regained control to win the opening set 16-25.
Curaçao bounced back in the second set, maintaining their composure to edge Trinidad and Tobago 25-23 and level the match.
The third set was evenly contested early, with the scores tied at 2-2, 6-6 and 7-7. Curaçao then pulled away to claim the set 25-20 before carrying that momentum into the fourth to complete the comeback victory.
Curaçao head coach Henrich Daal credited the opponents for their excellent playing style which forced his team outside their comfort zone.
“Trinidad came prepared for us, they made us work hard and fight for it. We had to make some changes to the game plan to achieve our goal and now we prepare to face Barbados.”
Trinidad and Tobago head coach praised Curacao team as well.
“I am proud of my team, we played our best game today, much better than yesterday. However Curacao have been together for quite some time, so they have that chemistry and they do prepare for tournaments larger than this one.”
