MORELOS, Mexico, August 12, 2026.- The Dominican Republic improved its record to 2-1 in Pool B of the 2026 Men’s Pan American Cup after defeating Curaçao 3-0 (25-18, 25-23, 29-27) on Wednesday at Poliforum 2 of the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Morelos (UAEM).
Curaçao closed pool play without a win, while the Dominican Republic will conclude the preliminary round on Thursday against Guatemala.
After controlling the first set, the Dominican Republic faced greater resistance from Curaçao in the next two. The second remained close until the end, with the Dominicans pulling it out 25-23.
Curaçao applied pressure again in the third and pushed the score beyond 25 points. The teams traded opportunities in a tight finish that was tied at 24-24, 25-25, 26-26 and 27-27 before the Dominican Republic sealed the victory 29-27.
The Dominicans held a 48-43 advantage in attacks and 3-1 in aces, while also committing fewer unforced errors, 20 compared to Curaçao’s 25. Curaçao led in blocks 4-3.
Luis David Reinoso led the Dominican Republic with 17 points, followed by Moisés Ortiz with 12 and Edward Rojas with 10.
Curaçao’s Marlison Kleinmoedig was the match’s leading scorer with 18 points, while Timothy van Henneigen contributed 12.

We played with the younger players on the team; we were given the opportunity because this is a very long and demanding tournament. We are satisfied with the victory. We played with a lot of energy and emotion. If we can maintain that vibe, we can achieve better results.”
Henrich Daal, Head Coach of Curaçao: “I’m not satisfied with our performance in the pool round. Yesterday we had the opportunity to beat Guatemala and didn’t take advantage of it; today we were able to play very well against the Dominican Republic’s second team.”
