As 2025 draws to a close – the first full year of delivery under the FIVB Strategic Vision 2032 – volleyball stands at a moment of significant growth and innovation. Across governance, competition, athlete development and global pathways, the sport has advanced with purpose, reinforcing its position as one of the world’s most dynamic, inclusive and forward-looking sports.

On the biggest stages, volleyball once again demonstrated its unique power to engage and inspire. The FIVB Volleyball Women’s and Men’s World Championships in Thailand and the Philippines, alongside the Beach Volleyball World Championships in Adelaide, brought together the best athletes and passionate fans. These events not only delivered exceptional sporting moments, but also reflected an evolving presentation of the game, with athletes placed firmly at the center through reimagined award ceremonies that connected volleyball’s legends with today’s champions.

Away from competition, the FIVB took a significant step forward in its commitment to athlete wellbeing and long-term development. The launch of the International Federation’s first post-career program, Beyond the Court, provided participating athletes with practical tools and guidance to prepare for life after elite competition. Through a structured program focused on personal values, transferable skills, professional identity and networking, the initiative demonstrated a clear priority for the FIVB: supporting athletes not only during their careers, but well beyond them.

Throughout 2025, Volleyball World and the FIVB Volleyball Foundation have played a central role in advancing the Strategic Vision 2032 too. By making the sport more accessible, affordable, understandable and enjoyable, both organizations have contributed to sustainable growth across all levels of the game, empowering National Federations, engaging new communities and inspiring the next generation of players and fans.

After a year that showcased the strength, reach and relevance of volleyball worldwide, the sport closes 2025 with renewed purpose and confidence. As attention turns to 2026 and the beginning of Olympic qualification, the Global Volleyball Movement is well positioned to build on the achievements of the past year. Together as One, the FIVB and its stakeholders remain committed to shaping a more global, sustainable and inspiring future for volleyball.
