June 30, 2026.- Two Olympic sports were united at Volleyball House on Olympic Day, as leaders of the FIVB and the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) met to discuss potential areas of collaboration, continuing a dialogue between two of the world’s most popular Olympic sports.
The FIVB delegation, led by President Fabio Azevedo, sat down with ITTF leadership headed by President and IOC Member Petra Sörling. The meeting came at an exciting time for table tennis with the ITTF marking its centenary year.
The conversation centered on shared ambitions and the natural overlap between the two federations’ strategic outlooks. The FIVB is pursuing its Strategic Vision 2032 under the motto “Together as One”, where it aims to make volleyball more accessible, understandable and affordable, and which includes its goal of doubling volleyball’s 800-million-strong global fanbase. The ITTF, meanwhile, has anchored its modernization drive around the principles of people, planet and prosperity. This framework ensures sport balances social well-being, environmental responsibility and economic growth to remain accessible for future generations.
Discussion topics included potential cooperation on helping to promote the Olympic values, and the shared mission of expanding participation in sport worldwide and enhancing both sports’ contribution to the Olympic Movement.
