JUAN DOLIO, Dominican Republic, April 24, 2026 – Four men’s pairs finished undefeated on the opening day of the NORCECA U18 Beach Volleyball Qualifier, which kicked off this Friday on the beautiful Juan Dolio Beach in the Dominican Republic.
In Group A, the American duo of Gabin Mortensen/Caden Phillips secured victories against Cael Greenidge/Joshua Ashby of Barbados 2-0 (21-7, 21-12) and the Costa Rican pair of David Johnson/Jeremy Guido 2-0 (21-7, 21-9).
Puerto Ricans Adrian Carrillo and Rocco Figueroa finished the day undefeated in Group B, defeating Joseph Godoy and Josué Rodríguez of Guatemala 2-0 (21-15, 21-13) and Canadians Bruno Azevedo and Cameron Gibson 2-1 (18-21, 21-19, 15-11).
In Group C, Francisco De Jesús and Franklin Segura of the Dominican Republic defeated Chikai Pogson and Zayden Turner of the Virgin Islands 2-0 (21-13, 21-10) and Darion Sparks and Josie Cedeño (TTO) 2-0 (21-4, 21-12), while Nicaragua’s Justin Barrios and Matthew Kempf defeated Sparks and Cedeño 2-0 (21-16, 21-15) and Pogson and Turner 2-0 (21-8, 21-9).
This tournament offers five berths for the U18 Beach Volleyball World Championship, which will be held from July 8-12 in The Hague, Netherlands.
