CASTRIES, St Lucia, February 23, 2024: St Lucia Team One, St Kitts and Nevis, Dominica and Grenada Women’s outfits, left day one of the Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association (ECVA) Senior Beach Volleyball Tournament here at the Cul de Sac Bay, with two wins under their belts.
The St Lucian pair of Denila Prospere and Chenao Evans, beat Zoe Richards and Makalia Powell of the British Virgin Islands 2-0 ( 21-13, 21-11), before ousting Bermuda’s Megan Hands/ Hailey Moss, 2-0 ( 21-9, 21-14).
Also, in Group A, Dominica’s Zahidu Henry and Nyla Edmund, defeated the British Virgin Islands’ pair of Richards and Powell, 2-0 (21-10, 21-19), then handed a 2-0(21-16, 21-15) defeat to Vincentians Shanadia Sylvester and Saquanna Duncan.
Meanwhile, St Kitts and Nevis and Grenada recorded their double wins in Group B.
The St Kitts and Nevis’ duo of Shanella Harris/ Shania Harris, defeated Antigua and Barbuda’s , Jassania Joseph and Sharifa Simmons, 2-0 (21-13, 21-6), as well as Anguilla’s Deandra Flemming and Lavesha Richardson 2-0 ( 21-18, 21-15).
Likewise, Grenada’s Thornia Mitchell and Renisha Stafford beat St Lucia Team Two, comprising Jemima Evans and Clio Phillip, 2-0 (21-14, 21-17), then continued their winnings ways over Antigua’s Joseph and Simmons, also 2-0 (21-13, 21-12).
In other day one results, Bermuda beat St Vincent and the Grenadines 2-0 (21-13, 21-12) and St Lucia Team Two defeated Anguilla, 2-0 (21-15, 21-13).
Group A fixtures for day two: Bermuda vs British Virgin Islands, St Vincent and the Grenadines vs St Lucia Team One, Bermuda vs Dominica, St Vincent and the Grenadines vs British Virgin Islands, and St Lucia vs Dominica.
And, Group B matches pit St Lucia Team Two vs St Kitts and Nevis, Grenada vs Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda vs St Lucia Team Two, St Kitts and Nevis vs Grenada and Anguilla versus Antigua and Barbuda.
