ROATÁN, Honduras, July 12, 2026. – Mexico’s Inés Vargas Lares and Carlos Andrés Ayala captured the gold medal on Sunday at the Seventh Stop of the 2026 NORCECA Beach Volleyball Tour, held at Tabyana Beach in Roatán, to secure their fourth consecutive title on the circuit.
With the victory, Lares/Carlos Andrés claimed their fifth title of the season, while Mexico celebrated its sixth men’s championship of the year on the NORCECA Tour, reaffirming the dominance it has shown throughout the campaign.
In a high-level final, Lares/Carlos Andrés defeated Costa Rica’s Julián Araya and Stanley Grant 2-0 (35-33, 21-13). The opening set was a thrilling 68-point battle before the Mexicans finally prevailed. In the second, the champions established their rhythm from the start to seal the victory and secure the title.
Their road to the championship was far from easy. In the semifinals, Lares/Carlos Andrés survived a demanding battle against Nicaragua’s Rubén Mora and Jefferson Cascante, winning 2-1 (21-15, 28-30, 15-12). Araya and Grant, meanwhile, advanced to the final with a straight-set 2-0 (21-11, 21-19) victory over the Dominican Republic’s De Jesús/Martínez.
For Araya and Grant, the silver medal marked their second podium finish of the season, following the runner-up finish they earned at the fifth stop in San Juan del Sur, where they also fell to a Mexican duo, Sarabia/Osuna.
The bronze medal went to Nicaragua’s Mora and Cascante, who defeated Dominicans De Jesús/Martínez 2-0 (21-19, 21-13).
In the fifth-place match, Canada’s Licht/Rivest defeated Puerto Rico’s Rivera/Rivera 2-0 (21-19, 21-16).
Seventh place went to another Canadian duo, Charbonneau/Heider, who defeated Guatemala’s Maldonado/Izaguirre 2-1 (21-13, 18-21, 15-6).
In the ninth-place match, El Salvador’s Rafa/Gabo defeated Honduras’ Flores/Menjívar 2-0 (21-13, 21-16).
The United States’ Pérez/Jensen finished eleventh after defeating Honduras’ Méndez/Ortega 2-0 (21-17, 21-10).
Honduras’ Reyes/Gálvez claimed thirteenth place with a 2-0 (21-16, 21-19) victory over Trinidad and Tobago’s Miguel/Morrison.
Finally, the U.S. Virgin Islands’ Eric/Sommer finished fifteenth after winning by forfeit over Bermuda’s Barnett/Somerville.
