PONCE, Puerto Rico, April 16, 2026. – The fourth match of the Women’s Volleyball Superior League (LVSF) Semifinal B series was almost a mirror image of the previous encounter between Leonas de Ponce and Criollas de Caguas, but this time ending in a 3-0 victory (25-21, 25-13, 25-20) for the home team, an inverted outcome compared to match three.
At the Pachín Vicéns Auditorium, Leonas returned the favor to the Criollas by not allowing them any room in any of the three sets, leveling the series at two wins apiece.
Ponce had dropped the previous match after letting slip an 18-11 lead in the opening set last Tuesday at the Roger Mendoza Vidal Coliseum, before losing that set and the next two comfortably. This time, the script flipped: it was the Criollas who failed to hold onto their early advantage and ended up conceding the opening set and the next two.
Caguas led the first set 16-11 at the second technical timeout, with Jenaisya Moore breaking through a triple block from the left side. After the pause, Ponce responded with a 7-2 run, capped by a successful attack from Sherridan Atkinson from the outside to tie the set at 18. The teams were tied again at 19, but from that point on, Ponce took full control to close out the set.
Leonas reached set point at 24-21 with a triple block on Moore and sealed it on the next play with an effective attack by Atkinson from the right side to zone one.
The following sets unfolded with little difficulty for Ponce.
The Leonas offense was led by Sherridan Atkinson with 22 points, Claire Chaussee with 17, and Nataly García with 11.
For Caguas, the top scorers were Génesis Collazo with 13 points, Temi Thoma Ailara with 11, and Jenaisya Moore with 10.
Ponce outperformed Caguas in every aspect of the game: 44-35 in attacks, 9-5 in blocks, 8-2 in service aces, 61-51 in digs, 31-25 in receptions, and 14-6 in assists.
The series, which has so far favored the home teams, returns this Friday to the Roger Mendoza venue in Caguas at 8:20 p.m.
