SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, September 21, 2026.- The Liga de Voleibol Superior Masculino (LVSM) announced that its 2026 season will begin on Friday, October 23, with three matches. The season will be dedicated to Jorge “Cubano” González Alonzo and Víctor M. López Ortiz in recognition of their contributions to the development of volleyball in Puerto Rico.
González Alonzo was a prominent figure in Puerto Rican volleyball during the 1970s and a standout member of the Puerto Rico National Team. López Ortiz built an extensive coaching career, received Coach of the Year honors four times and helped develop athletes across various levels of Puerto Rican volleyball.
Six teams will compete this season: Lares, Yauco, Corozal, Naranjito, Adjuntas and Carolina.
The action begins Friday, October 23, with three matches scheduled for 8:00 p.m. Lares will face Yauco, Corozal will meet Naranjito, and Adjuntas will take on Carolina.
Competition continues Sunday, October 25, with Naranjito facing Adjuntas at 8:00 p.m., Yauco meeting Corozal at 7:00 p.m., and Carolina taking on Lares at 6:00 p.m.
The Puerto Rican Volleyball Federation (FPV) will hold a press conference on Friday, October 2, to announce further details of the 2026 season.
