Mexicans Inés Lares and Carlos Andrés Ayala Claim Gold in Güibia

GÜIBIA, Dominican Republic, May 10, 2026. – Mexico’s Inés Lares and Carlos Andrés Ayala captured the gold medal at the second stop of the 2026 NORCECA Continental Beach Volleyball Tour, held on Güibia Beach, after defeating Cuba’s Damián Gómez and Eblis Veranes in a thrilling three-set final, 2-1 (21-17, 11-21, 15-7).

Lares and Ayala advanced to the championship match with a hard-fought 2-1 (12-21, 21-18, 15-10) semifinal victory over fellow Mexicans Miguel Sarabia and Jorman Osuna. On the other side of the bracket, Gómez and Veranes secured their place in the final by defeating Americans Charles Siragusa and Rowdy Lennon in straight sets, 2-0 (21-19, 21-17).

Siragusa and Lennon went on to claim the bronze medal, overcoming Sarabia and Osuna 2-0 (24-22, 21-18).

Costa Rica’s Julián Araya and Stanley Grant finished fifth after defeating El Salvador’s Gabriel Vargas and Rafael Vargas 2-0 (21-12, 21-16).

Puerto Rico’s Cristian Encarnación and José Pacheco placed seventh with a 2-0 (21-17, 21-18) win over Dominican duo Ramón De Jesús and Alexander Wilmore. Another Dominican pair, Hayerling De Jesús and Oscar Martínez, finished ninth by defeating Nicaragua’s Jefferson Cascante and Josué Meneses 2-0 (21-19, 21-16).

Canada’s David Chaput and Cameron McGregor secured eleventh place with a dominant 2-0 (21-9, 21-9) victory over Costa Rica’s Lance Akerson and Cristhian Oporta.
