Milan’s Centro Pavesi is at heart of Italian Volleyball Development

February 16, 2026.- FIVB leadership recently visited Milan’s Centro Pavesi, one of Italy’s premier volleyball hubs, where they met with Giuseppe Manfredi, President of the Italian Volleyball Federation (FIPAV), and the federation’s leadership. The visit took place during the Milano Cortina Olympic Winter Games 2026 and highlighted the centre’s pivotal role in developing players, supporting clubs and shaping the future of Italian volleyball.

Centro Pavesi is one of the hearts of Italian volleyball. It serves as the training base for the national teams and a central hub for clubs from across the country. The centre also hosts the Club Italia women’s A2 team, supporting the development of Italy’s next generation of stars. With a long history of producing Olympic and world champions, Centro Pavesi’s legacy continues to inspire athletes and shape the future of the sport in the region.

During the visit, the FIVB delegation toured the centre’s training halls, technical offices and athlete facilities, meeting the people who work every day to keep Italian volleyball as an important presence on the international stage.

The visit concluded with a meeting between FIVB and FIPAV leadership, which discussed upcoming competitions and strategies to grow the sport globally.

Fabio Azevedo stated;

“The Pavesi Centre is a historic place: it is a true temple of Italian and world volleyball. Many players, both male and female, who went on to become Olympic and world champions, have trained and developed here. It is a great honour to be here and meet all the people who work with passion for volleyball every day.”

He added; “We are working hard towards the FIVB Strategic Vision 2032: the goal is to further grow volleyball globally, moving from 800 million to 1.6 billion people being involved in our sport. To do this, we must make volleyball increasingly accessible, more understandable and closer to people. It’s a goal we can only achieve by working together as one.”

Giuseppe Manfredi asserted;

“We were very happy to host FIVB President Fabio Azevedo at the Pavesi Centre. We toured the facilities together and showed them a structure that works, but it is also constantly evolving and growing.

I believe this is a good time for volleyball. We must be good at seizing all the opportunities that arise and working together to best protect and develop the interests of our movement.”
