From there, the Americans managed the lead with consistent defense and efficient offense, while Canada looked for answers through Czepuryk, Dezutter, and Owen Harris. Fahlbusch added a key block late in the set, Fuerbringer earned championship point, and Jordan sealed the title with an ace for the final 25-14.
Donan Cruz, Head Coach of United States, said after the win: “We knew that in any gold medal match, we had to expect everyone’s best. Our guys were prepared, and we felt this was a team we were familiar with because of some of their returning players. Credit to Canada as well for reaching this level and earning a silver medal. For us, we knew we were capable of playing our best, and this was the moment to show it. It’s not so much that they didn’t have a good game; I think we put a lot of pressure on them to be good, and we came out on top”.
