MONTREAL, Canada, August 23, 2026.- The United States earned women’s silver, while host Canada celebrated bronze medals in both the women’s and men’s events on the final day of the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour Montréal Elite.
Americans Kristen Cruz and Taryn Brasher reached the women’s gold medal match, where they faced Brazil’s Thâmela Coradello and Victoria Lopes. The U.S. pair took the opening set before the Brazilians came back to win 2-1 (19-21, 21-18, 15-12), leaving Cruz and Brasher with the silver medal.
Canada also reached the women’s podium with Melissa Humana-Paredes and Brandie Wilkerson. The two-time past Montréal champions fell in the semifinals to Thâmela and Victoria in three sets before defeating Germany’s Svenja Müller and Cinja Tillmann 2-1 (20-22, 21-12, 18-16) in the bronze medal match. The match was interrupted by stormy weather with the teams tied at one set apiece before play resumed.
Canada added another bronze medal in the men’s event through Sam Schachter and Jonny Pickett, who earned the country’s first men’s medal at a major FIVB beach volleyball event in 10 years.
After falling to Brazil’s Andre Loyola Stein and Renato Lima de Carvalho 2-1 (21-12, 16-21, 16-14) in the semifinals, Schachter and Pickett bounced back in the bronze medal match, defeating Norway’s Hendrik Mol and Mathias Berntsen 2-1 (16-21, 28-26, 15-12).
The medal was Schachter’s first at the major or Elite level since earning silver alongside Josh Binstock at the FIVB Poreč Major in Croatia in June 2015.
Norway’s Anders Mol and Christian Sørum captured the men’s gold medal, their third title in the history of the Montréal event, while Brazil’s Thâmela and Victoria topped the women’s podium.
