SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, August 21, 2026.- The United States opened the 2026 NORCECA Women’s Continental Championship with a convincing 3-0 (25-6, 25-11, 25-4) victory over Trinidad and Tobago in Pool A action at the “Prof. Ricardo Gioriver Arias” Volleyball Palace.
In addition to the continental title, three berths to the 2027 FIVB Women’s World Championship are at stake. The competition also plays a key role in the qualification pathway to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
On the second day of competition, the United States will face Mexico, while Trinidad and Tobago will take on Canada in Pool A.
The Americans controlled the match from start to finish, holding Trinidad and Tobago to single digits in the first and third sets before closing out their opening victory with a decisive 25-4 third set.
The United States held a commanding advantage in attacks (41-7) and aces (19-2), while Trinidad and Tobago held a 1-0 edge in blocks.
Asjia O’Neal led the United States with a match-high 18 points, followed by Stephanie Samedy with 14 and Dana Rettke with nine.
Thia Wilson led Trinidad and Tobago with four points, while Sadie Torkar added two.
