CHILE, August 11, 2026.- The United States advanced undefeated to the Round of 16 of the Girls’ U17 World Championship, while the Dominican Republic defeated Puerto Rico in its final pool-play match to also secure a spot in the next round.
Mexico and Puerto Rico were eliminated from the Round of 16 and will compete in the classification matches for positions 17 through 24.
United States Defeated Czech Republic
The United States defeated Czech Republic 3-0 (25-10, 25-13, 25-17) to finish first in Pool A and secure its place in the Round of 16, which begins Wednesday, August 12.
The United States will face Argentina at 20:00 local time.
Against Czech Republic, the Americans dominated the match statistics, leading 38-16 in attacks, 8-2 in blocks and 9-4 in service points.
Kari Knotts of the United States was the only player to reach double figures in scoring, finishing with 16 points, including four blocks and two service points.

Dominican Republic Beat Puerto Rico
The Dominican Republic defeated Puerto Rico 3-1 (25-23, 25-12, 18-25, 25-17) to secure its place in the Round of 16 and eliminate Puerto Rico from the round in Pool D.
The Dominican Republic will face China at 17:00 local time, while Puerto Rico will play Tunisia at the same time in the classification matches for positions 17 through 24.
In the match statistics, the Dominican Republic led Puerto Rico 50-38 in attacks, while Puerto Rico held the advantage 10-8 in blocks and 3-2 in service points.
Dominican Republic captain Rayni Mondesi delivered an outstanding performance with 30 points, while Leandry Almonte added 13. For Puerto Rico, Carinialys Kuilan finished with 15 points.
Mexico Falls Just Short of the Round of 16
Despite its 3-0 (25-19, 25-17, 27-25) victory over Tunisia, Mexico failed to advance to the Round of 16. Mexico and the Philippines both finished with records of 2 wins and 3 losses, but the Philippines finished with seven points, one more than Mexico.
The Philippines earned one 3-0 victory and one 3-1 win, while also collecting one point from a 3-2 loss, while Mexico earned its two victories by 3-2, against the Philippines, and 3-0.
Mexico will now face Algeria at 14:00 local time in the classification matches for positions 17 through 24.
