Charleston, West Virginia, to host Men’s Continental Championship

WEST VIRGINIA, United States, August 31, 2023.- Charleston, West Virginia will host the 2023 NORCECA Senior Men’s Continental Championship at the Charleston Coliseum from September 5-10.

Teams competing at the Continental Championship will receive points toward their world rankings, which will help determine who qualifies for the 2024 Olympic Games.

Seven teams have been divided into two groups, with Group A consisting of Canada, Dominican Republic and Mexico; Cuba, Puerto Rico, Suriname and hosts United States, the number 2 team in the world are gathered in Group B.

Group winners after three-day preliminary round will advance into semifinals to be held on September 9. Second and third placed teams will battle in quarterfinals on September 8.

Puerto Rico is the reigning champion, they made history in 2021 winning their first gold medal in after defeating Canada 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-23) in Durango, Mexico.

Cuba is the top winner in the history of the event, with 15 gold medals, followed by the United States with 9, while Canada and Puerto Rico have won the NORCECA Men’s title once each.
