Leonas de Ponce Announce the Retirement of Stephanie “Fefa” Enright Ahead of Game 4 of the Final Series

PONCE, Puerto Rico, April 29, 2026. – The management of Leonas de Ponce, with official authorization from the Puerto Rican Volleyball Federation, announced tonight the retirement of standout outside hitter Stephanie “Fefa” Enright. The announcement was delivered exclusively in person prior to the start of Game 4 of the Women’s Volleyball Superior League  Final Series.

The announcement was made in accordance with a communication issued days earlier, which indicated that “an official announcement of high interest for Puerto Rican volleyball” would be presented, to be revealed only inside the venue before the match.

With the match held at the Auditorio Juan ‘Pachín’ Vicens and in the presence of print, digital, radio, and television media, the Leonas confirmed the news, marking a historic moment for the sport in the country.

Stephanie Enright, who debuted in the LVSF in 2009, established herself as “one of the most complete outside hitters in the league, distinguished by her stability in reception, offensive ability, and leadership on and off the court.” Her name became closely tied to the dynasty of the Criollas de Caguas, where she played an essential role in multiple championships and in building one of the most successful eras in league history.

In the final stage of her career, Enright joined the Leonas de Ponce, bringing veteran presence, composure, and professionalism. Her career concludes in this 2026 Final Series, “a fitting ending for an athlete who always competed at the highest level.”

Enright’s impact extended beyond local courts. She represented Puerto Rico in professional leagues in Japan, Azerbaijan, Italy, and Türkiye, proving that Puerto Rican talent can compete on the most demanding stages of world volleyball.

With the National Team, she was part of the historic Olympic participation at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, one of the most significant milestones in Puerto Rican sports.

In the official statement authorized by the FPV, Federation president César H. Trabanco highlighted that Enright “leaves a legacy that transcends statistics: she leaves an example,” emphasizing her “resilience, professionalism, and love for volleyball.”

The Federation also acknowledged that her name is already among future candidates for the Puerto Rican Sports Hall of Fame.

“Thank you, Fefa, for representing Puerto Rico with pride. Your legacy remains,” the institutional message concluded.

The Leonas’ management thanked the FPV for authorizing the release of the announcement in such a high-visibility setting, as well as the media for their timely attendance, as requested in the official call.
