SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador, May 2, 2026. – Nicaragua will be represented in both the boy’s and girl’s gold medal matches at the IV AFECAVOL Central American U19 Beach Volleyball Championship after finishing first in both categories following the preliminary phase.
The boy’s division had an electrifying finish with the possibility of a three-way tie between Nicaragua, Guatemala, and El Salvador. However, the day’s results ultimately placed Nicaragua’s Domingo Murillo/Edgar Holmann in first place with a 2-1 win-loss record.
Guatemala’s Manuel Ortiz/Robin Oliva also posted a 2-1 record, but Nicaragua claimed the top spot thanks to a better ratio percentage (1.450 to 1.0192).
Meanwhile, El Salvador’s Diego Barrera/Jacob Menjívar finished in third place with a 1-2 record, tied with Honduras’ Jairo Galvez/Isaac Méndez. However, the host team secured third due to a superior ratio percentage (0.9323 to 0.9145).
As a result, Nicaragua will face Guatemala for the gold medal, while El Salvador will take on Honduras for bronze.
In the girl’s division, Nicaragua’s path represented by Franchely Alvarado/Ella Resau, was clearer, as they finished with a perfect 3-0 record.
The battle for second place was more contested and was secured by El Salvador’s Ashley Rauda/María Castaneda, thanks to a straight-sets victory in the afternoon session over Guatemala’s Mónica Cano/Marisabel González (21-18, 21-18).
That win improved the Salvadoran duo’s record to 2-1, solidifying second place, while Cano/González finished third with a 1-2 record.
Honduras’ Eymy Baires/Ruth Villegas (0-3) ended in fourth place in the standings.
Nicaragua will face El Salvador for the gold medal, while Guatemala will meet Honduras for bronze in the final day of the women’s competition.
