Rendón/Medina Aim to Defend U17 AFECAVOL Beach Title; Guatemala Reaches Both Finals

San Salvador, El Salvador, May 2, 2026. – El Salvador’s Fátima Rendón/Dévora Medina will look to defend their title in front of their home crowd when they play for the girl’s gold medal against Guatemala’s Daniela Campos/Fátima Reina in the final of the III AFECAVOL Central American U17 Beach Volleyball Championship.

In the boy’s division, the gold medal match will feature Guatemala’s Joseph Godoy/Josué Rodríguez against the undefeated Justin Dinarte/Mattew Kempf of Nicaragua.

Rendón/Medina were dominant in the girls’ preliminary phase, posting a perfect 3-0 record without dropping a single set.

The Salvadoran duo closed their schedule with commanding victories over Nicaragua’s Kimberly Silva/Adbi Narváez 2-0 (21-9, 21-15), and Guatemala’s Daniela Campos/Fátima Reina by 2-0 (21-9, 21-13), the latter finishing in second place with a 2-1 record.

Meanwhile, Nicaragua’s Silva/Narváez defeated Honduras’ Miley Rodríguez/Valeria Acosta 2-0 (21-18, 21-19) in their final match to secure third place with a 1-2 record.

As a result, Nicaragua and Honduras will battle for the bronze medal in the girl’s division on the final day.

In the boy’s competition, Nicaragua’s Dinarte/Kempf also had a perfect run with a 3-0 record, although they dropped a set in their final match, defeating Guatemala’s Joseph Godoy/Josué Rodríguez 2-1 (19-21, 21-15, 15-13) in a match that determined the top spot.

The Guatemalan duo Godoy/Rodríguez finished the preliminary round with a 2-1 record in second place and will face Nicaragua for the gold medal.

To close the day, Honduras’ Osman García/Jonathan Ortega defeated El Salvador’s Adiel Anzora/Mario Baires 2-0 (21-11, 21-16) to claim third place with a 1-2 record, while El Salvador finished fourth (0-3). Both teams will meet again on the final day to compete for the bronze medal.
