SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, August 19, 2026.- The North, Central America and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation (NORCECA), through the NORCECA/FIVB Development Center of Excellence in the Dominican Republic, launched the certification process for official scorers who participate in events organized by NORCECA and the FIVB.
In this first training session, 12 scorers selected by the Dominican Volleyball Federation (FEDOVOLI) from different parts of the country were certified.
The training session, held on August 17, was conducted by Venezuelan instructor Yeivic Jiménez at the NORCECA/FIVB Development Center of Excellence, located on the second floor of the “Prof. Ricardo Gioriber Arias” Volleyball Palace at the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center.
During the opening ceremony, Professor Nelson José Ramírez, Secretary General of FEDOVOLI and Director of the NORCECA/FIVB Development Center of Excellence, accompanied by Professor Salvador Bautista, President of the National Refereeing Commission, welcomed the 12 participants.
Ramírez highlighted FEDOVOLI’s interest in ensuring that the country’s technical personnel hold the corresponding NORCECA and FIVB certifications, especially considering the important international commitments the Dominican Republic will undertake by hosting the NORCECA Women’s Continental Championship and the Continental Olympic Qualifier.
Both competitions will take place from August 21 to 29 at the “Prof. Ricardo Gioriber Arias” Volleyball Palace in Santo Domingo.
For his part, Ariel Sainz, First Vice President of NORCECA, said that this training marks the beginning of the certification process for scorers from the National Federations that will host official Confederation tournaments.
Sainz explained that the initiative follows the guidance of NORCECA President Cristóbal Marte Hoffiz to use the NORCECA/FIVB Development Center of Excellence as a platform for National Federations to strengthen the training and certification of their refereeing and scoring personnel.
The initiative is part of NORCECA’s efforts to continue enhancing the preparation of technical personnel involved in its competitions and to ensure that official events have properly trained and certified personnel.
