GÜIBIA, Dominican Republic, May 8, 2026. – Six women’s pairs, representing Nicaragua, the United States, Canada, Costa Rica, and two teams from the Dominican Republic, remained undefeated after the opening day of the second stage of the 2026 NORCECA Beach Volleyball Tour, taking place at Güibia Beach.
In Pool A, Nicaragua’s Socorro López/Lolette Rodríguez delivered a strong performance with straight-set victories over Chante Smith-Johnson/Joanna Robinson of the Cayman Islands, 2-0 (21-10, 21-12), and the Dominican duo Zoe Paniagua/Yerelin Reyes, 2-0 (21-12, 21-15). The U.S. pair Torrey Van Winden/Alison Sparks also went unbeaten, dominating both Paniagua/Reyes 2-0 (21-7, 21-9) and Smith-Johnson/Robinson 2-0 (21-5, 21-14).
In Pool B, Canada’s Darby Dunn/Alison McKay maintained a perfect record, defeating Mexico’s Anna González/Ana Juárez in identical sets, 2-0 (21-8, 21-8), and Puerto Rico’s Mariana Feliciano/Camila Nazario 2-0 (21-17, 22-20).

The Dominican pair Crismil Paniagua/Yari Cleto topped Pool C without dropping a set, overcoming Mexico’s Susana Torres/Abril Flores 2-0 (21-19, 21-16) and El Salvador’s Dana Funes/Adriana Vargas 2-0 (21-5, 21-13).
In Pool D, another home duo, Bethania Almánzar/Julibeth Payano, also remained unbeaten with wins over Canada’s Anna Prokofieva/Claire Crossfield 2-0 (21-16, 21-13) and Honduras’ Shanna Rivera/Ruth Villegas 2-0 (21-7, 21-11). Costa Rica’s Aliza Aguilar/Laura Molina matched that record, defeating Rivera/Villegas 2-0 (21-19, 21-15) and Prokofieva/Crossfield 2-0 (21-17, 21-16).
The tournament resumes on Saturday at 8:45 a.m. (local time) with the continuation of the preliminary round, followed by placement matches and the quarterfinals.
