PUNTA CANA, Dominican Republic, June 4, 2023.- Puerto Ricans Allanis Nava and María González took the top honors showing a great level of play in gold medal match over Dominicans Jeneiry Rosario and Yari Cleto 2-0 (21-9, 21-10) in Los Corales Beach in Punta Cana.
Canadian duo of Sophia Hladyniuk and Emma Braticevic defeated Dominicans Ruth Martínez and Crismil Paniagua 2-0 (21-14, 21-15) to win the bronze medal.
In the match for fifth place of the event, Ximena Nuñez and Kianny Quesada of Costa Rica prevailed 2-0 (21-15, 21-14) against Naomi Monney and Andrea Godoy of Guatemala.
Maryn McCoombs and Lucia Finlason of Cayman Islands finished seventh after Sofi/Molina of Costa Rica forfeited.
Nahima Silva/Ella Resau of Nicaragua took ninth place over Daniela Vigil and Karla Tovar of El Salvador in three sets 2-1 (21-16, 18-21, 15-5).
PUNTA CANA, Dominican Republic, June 4, 2023.- Cuba men won the gold medal in the U-23 Tournament of the NORCECA Beach Volleyball Tour, successfully held on the sand courts on Los Corales beach in Punta Cana.
The Under 23 event is the new beach volleyball circuit that the NORCECA Confederation has created for athletes to earn ranking points for this age-group.
Cuban pair Jorge Alayo and Noslen Díaz defeated the Costa Rica of Julián Araya and Jhostin Varela in the gold medal match with a score of 2-0 (21-15, 21-12) in 34 game minutes.
Canadian duo of Cameron Chadwick and Tynan Gannett easily won the bronze medal after defeating Nicaraguans Jefferson Cascante and Josue Meneses 2-0 (21-16, 21-15).
The fifth place went to the twin brothers Yoel and Christopher Guardado from El Salvador over Guatemala’s Rodolfo Ventura and José Izaguirre in three exciting sets 2-1 (21-14, 17-21, 15-9).
The match for seventh place was won 2-0 (21-13, 21-17) by Canadians Martin Licht and Steven Abrams against Elkreen Morton and Zendai Richards from Saint Kitts & Nevis.
In another result, Dominicans Rolvin Maldonado and Ricardo Paredes beat Antigua & Barbuda of Khaliq Joseph and Roshaun Martin 21-8, 21-11.
PUNTA CANA, Dominican Republic, June 3, 2023.- Two duos of the Dominican Republic will compete in the women’s semifinals of the Under-23 NORCECA Beach Volleyball Tour being successfully held at Los Corales beach in Punta Cana.
The two Dominican couples qualified for the semifinals of the event that concludes this Sunday, after winning in Saturday’s quarterfinals.
Rosario and Cleto defeated Monney and Godoy from Guatemala 2-0 (24-22, 21-10) to advance to the next phase of the tournament, while in an electrifying match full of emotions, injuries, and passion, the duo of Martínez and Paniagua defeated Núñez and Quezada from Costa Rica in three intense sets (23-21, 23-25, 18-16) to get their ticket to the next stage.
In accordance with the regulations of the NORCECA Volleyball Confederation, two teams from the same country that both reach the semifinals will have to face each other, therefore the duo of Rosario and Cleto will have to face the team formed by Martínez and Paniagua of Dominican Republic.
The other two couples that advanced to the semifinals are the one made up of Hladyniuk and Braticevic from Canada who easily beat the one made up of McCoombs and Finlason from the Cayman Islands 2-0 (21-3, 21-9) and the duo of Navas and González from Puerto Rico defeated Sofi and Molina from Costa Rica 2-1 (21-13, 21-13).
The other two pairs advancing into semifinals are Canadians Hladyniuk and Braticevic and Puerto Rico’s Navas and Gonzalez.
Hladyniuk and Braticevic easily beat McCoombs and Finlason of Cayman Islands 2-0 (21-3, 21-9), while Navas and González triumphed over Sofi and Molina of Costa Rica 2-0 (21-13, 21-13).
In semifinals, Dominicans will face each other, and Canada goes up against Puerto Rico.
The semifinals are scheduled on Sunday at 9:00 am (local time) as well as matches for positions 5 to 11, medal matches will be held during the afternoon.

13 men’s teams and 11 women’s teams registered during the preliminary inspections on Thursday, aiming to advance from the preliminary pool-play that begins Friday at 9:00 am (local time) on the courts at Los Corales beach in Punta Cana .
There are 28 games scheduled for the first day of competition, 16 in the men’s branch and 12 in the women’s, the quarterfinals will be on Saturday and the semifinal along with the finals on Sunday in addition to placing matches.
