SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, August 24, 2023.- In an exciting clash not suitable for the faint of heart, the United States defeated the Dominican Republic 3-2 (25-21, 19, -25, 25-27, 25-14, 15- 5), in the last match of the card of the fifth day of competition of the NORCECA Final Six Pan American Cup at the Ricardo Gioriber Arias National Volleyball Pavilion.

The American troop was led by Taylor Mims with 22 points followed by Simone Lee with 19 and Kayla Haneline and Danielle Hart who had 15 and 10 respectively. The Queens of the Caribbean were led by Gaila González with 32 points, the most for a player in this Cup, while Yonkaira Peña and Lisvel Eve added 10 points each one.

Brad Rostratter, United States coach: It is fabulous to play here in the Dominican Republic in front of this impressive crowd that creates a great atmosphere, both teams had ups and downs during the match at times they showed a high level of volleyball and at others they had to manage certain things.

Marcos Kwiek, coach of the Dominican Republic: It was a pretty intense game where in the fourth and fifth sets they put too much pressure on us, we made too many defensive mistakes, that’s something we have to correct for the Semifinal and the Final.
