Coaches Expectations for the Final Six

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, August 19, 2023.- During the preliminary meeting of the Women’s Final Six Tournament, the coaches of the six participating teams discussed their expectations for the event.

Leivis García, coach of Cuba:

For us, participation in this tournament is very important since it is the first after the Pan American Cup for Seniors held in Puerto Rico, in which we could not participate, and we have new figures in the team because it is projected to medium and in the long term and the expectations are to seek to raise the competitive level and find a good place within the event.

Marcos Kwiek, coach of the Dominican Republic:

We are the venue, it is the second time that this Tournament has been held in the Dominican Republic, the expectation is to play at a good level, to be able to reach the final and play in front of our fans and that it will serve as a very good preparation for the Continental that will be held in Canada from August 27 to September 4.

Nicola Negro, coach of Mexico:

We want to try some new players who had not been with the team and this is a competition that prepares us for the NORCECA Continental of Canada and also for the Pre-Olympic, which are two very important events and we are here hoping to get the best result.

Carolyn O’Dwyer, coach of Canada:

I think we have a very young team, there are some athletes who joined the Senior team just now in the Pan American Cup that was held in Puerto Rico but we have trained hard throughout the summer so our expectations are high and we consider ourselves a strong team for this tournament.

Brad Rostratter, United States coach:

We want to continue doing what we did in Puerto Rico, continue to grow as a team and continue to be one of the strongest teams in the area. We are in a good moment and we are going for the victory in this Tournament.

Kenneth Martinez, assistant coach of Puerto Rico:

The team is relatively young, made at the last moment, the projections are to see their development, how they develop to continue offering them opportunities.
