Cuba and Brazil return to Men’s Beach Volleyball Pan American Games finals

SANTIAGO, Chile, October 26, 2023. Cuba and Brazil will feature in a dream final with a taste of revenge in the Men’s Beach Volleyball Tournament of the Pan American Games Santiago 2023, to be held on Friday at Parque Peñalolén.

Noslen Díaz/Jorge Alayo from Cuba and George/André from Brazil will face each other again here in Santiago. Cuba defeated Brazil in three sets in pool-play.

To reach the final, Díaz/Alayo defeated Logan Webber/Hagen Smith from the United States 2-0 (21-15, 21-13). Alayo’s net reach and Diaz’s defense made the difference against the Americans who progressed to semifinals undefeated.

Meanwhile, George/André won 2-0 (21-13, 21-17) against cousins Marcos and Esteban Grimalt from Chile, the current champions. A great defense from George and André’s blocking kept the Grimalts under control, and they won’t be able to defend the title they earned four years ago in Lima, Peru.
