SAN JUAN DEL SUR, Nicaragua, May 15, 2026. – Six teams in the women’s tournament got off to a perfect start at the third stop of the NORCECA Beach Volleyball Tour, following a 16-match opening day across four pools that left these duos undefeated after their first two outings.
In Pool A, the Dominican pair of Julibeth Payano and Bethania Almánzar dominated with wins over Nicaragua’s Socorro López/Lolette Rodríguez (21-19, 21-18) and the Cayman Islands’ Amanda Robinson/Joana Robinson (21-8, 21-6). Honduras’ Shanna Rivera/Reizel Bruhier also defeated the Caribbean duo (22-20, 21-8), while López/Rodríguez closed the day with a victory over Rivera/Bruhier (21-14, 21-13), leaving quarterfinal qualification open.
In Pool B, Canada’s Darby Dunn and Alison McKay, silver medalists in the first two stops of the tour, confirmed their contender status with wins over Mexico’s Ana Sofía Juárez/Ana Sofía González (21-8, 21-7) and El Salvador’s Karla Tovar/Daniela Vigil (21-13, 21-15). Guatemala’s Naomi Monney/Paola Alvarado also remain undefeated after rallying past Tovar/Vigil (15-21, 21-16, 15-12) and defeating the Mexican duo (21-11, 21-9). The top spot in the pool will be decided between these two teams.

Pool C features another clash of undefeated teams: Mexico’s Susana Torres/Abril Flores, who defeated USA’s Arika Johnson/Amarie Bremel (21-14, 21-13) and the U.S. Virgin Islands’ D’Keisha Jordan/Brooklin Donovan (21-5, 21-15), and Costa Rica’s Aliza Aguilar/Laura Molina, who also recorded two wins, beating Jordan/Donovan (21-6, 21-6) and Johnson/Bremel (21-18, 21-15).
In Pool D, USA’s María Belén Castillo/Kahlee York are the only undefeated duo after defeating Panama’s Keisy Fuentes/Dayanis Ríos (21-13, 21-14) and the Dominican Republic’s Crismil Paniagua/Asmabeth Infante (21-13, 21-14). Paniagua/Infante, meanwhile, overcame Nicaragua’s Norma Brenes/Yuliana Chávez in three sets (21-7, 15-21, 15-13), while Brenes/Chávez closed the day with another three-set victory over Ríos/Fuentes (21-17, 19-21, 15-7).
Action continues Saturday starting at 10:00 a.m. with the remaining pool matches. Quarterfinals will follow in the afternoon, along with classification matches for places 9–16.
